Quote of the week

Sometimes life throws us a curve ball and we are left feeling shocked, deflated and confused.  That's how I feel after last week.  As I have mentioned, we are in the middle of a pretty big house remodel and our lives are crazy busy right now.  We are in the home stretch of finishing and can't wait!  I often remind myself that although the remodel can feel endless, it was something that we have chosen and therefore we should enjoy this process.  However, sometimes life throws us something unexpected.  Those events are what I have a hard time dealing with.  Our furnace "burned up" last week and we arrived to a house full of smoke.  We are lucky it didn't catch fire.  We bought a new furnace which was an unexpected large sum of money to spend, but I have reminded myself that this is part of owning a home.  Two nights later, our apartment was broken into and robbed.  This is the part that I have a hard time understanding.  I couldn't help but feel sorry for myself.  Then I realized that this is life.  I believe we are given challenges that will test our character and prepare us for future events in life.  These "curve balls" are what make us who we are and we can use them for the greater good and look beyond the negative.  I realized this week that material possessions are nothing in the big scheme of things.  My family and friends are what make life so precious.  Not a TV.  Yes I knew this before, but it is easy to get caught up in our "things."  Like the quote above mentions, this weeks events are part of my journey and molding me for the greater good.

  1. so sorry to hear about these things Kelley... let's get together soon for a coffee and catch up.

  2. oh my gosh, thank goodness your furnace didn't catch fire! and what a horribly invasive feeling to have your apartment broken into and robbed. gosh, i am so sorry.
