Capturing all of life's little joys

For my birthday, I was shockingly surprised to receive this from my sweet hubs:

I have been doing a lot of this:
Photos taken by me

Taking photos is a huge part of my life.  I constantly feel the need to capture special moments with a camera in order to preserve that moment in time.  The photo albums lining the shelf of my childhood bedroom and the folders of photos on my computer are proof of that.  In high school and college, my friends and I always made sure we had at least one camera on hand just in case.  As my interest in photography has turned from snapping a quick photo to the desire for taking a good quality picture, I have increasingly began to think about a real camera.  Ya know, the ones with the big lens!

When I said I was "shockingly surprised" to receive this camera from my hubs, it's because I have recently been talking to Matt about saving up for one that we can hopefully purchase in the next 5 years.  I wasn't expecting to get one so soon.  On a recent trip home to his parents house, Matt's mom pulled out boxes and boxes of photos from years past.  It was such a joy to browse through those photos.  When I asked Matt why he decided to get the camera so soon, he said it was an investment in our future that we need to start investing in now.  He said looking through his mom's photos brought up so many great memories and he was so glad that he had those photos to remember past celebrations and loved ones no longer here.  He wants to make sure that we have just as many boxes of photos to haul out and browse through someday.  Amen to that!

  7. That's awesome! I actually just got a new camera too! I really wanted a rebel but didn't want to spend the money on it. I just a inexpensive sony dslr. I haven't really played around with it but i'm excited to. Have you played with yours and worked on changing the different settings? Your photos look great!
